The Lorain County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our plans for an Economic Summit taking place on May 9, 2017 at Lorain County Community College Spitzer Conference Center. This inaugural summit will begin in the morning with an “Economic Overview” provided by Ken Mayland of Clear View Economics. He will be addressing the local economic impact of the 2016 Presidential Election and potential avenues it may take. He will talk about how this is affecting the Country, as well as Northeast Ohio and more specifically Lorain County. Our keynote address will be from Don Marinelli, retired professor from Carnegie Mellon. Don was behind various downtown Pittsburgh redevelopment projects as well as a consultant on a variety of projects related to bettering communities through the merger of art, technology and education. Our goal is to spur dialogue between our local businesses, our local educational partners, our elected officials and our local philanthropic and non-profit organizations. This may include a panel of local businesses with a focus on what is happening in their respective industries. Our goal is to inform our Lorain County business leaders while we talk about opportunities for collaborative initiatives and strive to identify and stimulate current and future action.
