Calling all poets to gather at the Lorain Historical Society to read their works at an open mic event - and all are welcome, whether it is to read a poem or two or to listen to talented performers. In addition, winners of our "Women Who Empower" poetry contest and prizes will be awarded. Poets from Lorain County can enter a poem for the contest (no contest fee!) from Monday, February 17 through Tuesday, March 17 to be considered for this contest. Watch our e-newsletter, website and Facebook page for contest details.
Programming Note:
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. We have chosen to entitle our commemoration of this centennial “Beyond the 19th Amendment.” Our programs this year focus on stories of women, many of them from Lorain, who worked to improve their community during the time period leading up to and following the passing of the amendment.
